  5. samoarepping says:

yo samoan tattoos are the best. and plus samoa made the word tattoo. tattoos were firstly from samoa. but every polynesian country is the same, they all migrated from savaii, samoa.

  6. joonthetoon says:

just a quick question. how sanitizing is this method?

  7. JuneTuiasosopo says:

Sike, Sole every culture had their own form of tat’s, and uso’s weren’t the first. Ask any tufuga and they’ll tell you the same thing, our pe’as were influenced by tahitians. Even the sogaimiti describes the journey from another island… If anything Egypt outdates our ink by a couple hundred years…

  8. frequenzT says:

how can i find the other parts of the documentary?

  9. HawaiiRebel says:

ALL Polynesian Cultures are the same. We all believe in and practice the same things and most likely had tattoos around the same time. Polynesians are ONE PEOPLE. Stop the arguing amongst ourselves.

  10. polkadotpants says:

@polkadotpants If you decide to go for a Maori design make sure it’s a kirituhi and not moko – moko is basically a Maori’s story of ancestry, tribe etc, you don’t want to wear someone else story – that’s why they have kirituhi, so people can have Maori style tattoos but the shapes and patterns don’t have meaning unless you give them one. Hope that helps

  11. polkadotpants says:

@kdkjrf It’s a nice sentiment that you ask, but you’ll most likely find some will be proud that you want to wear their style tattoos but there will also be some that disgree, personally I think go for it, but if possible design your own, it’s alot more special and not as hard as you might imagine.

  12. shufflerrrrrr says:

@kdkjrf if u get it done for the right reasons then yeh but a lot of people just get it to look cool

  17. ChopSticks900 says:

get whatever you want as a tattoo and nothing else :)

  18. wowszersz1mpoly says:

the hawaiian kakau was introduced to hawaiians by some samaoan slaves brought by the haole ppl i believe…

if you research deep into ur subject and learn a little bit of samoan lingo you’ll learn that the hawaiian wrd “kakau” translates to the samoan wrd “tatau” which means tatoo…

the goat’s tatoo was a way of branding their goats as many haoles brand cows & stuff…

i’m not positive on da facts so check um eh

  19. TheSoonyaa says:

Ugh tht has nothing to do wit hawaiians.. thats all samoan.. Samoans were the very first to have ink to have on their bodies.. not asians, not the aztecs or mayans, Samoans!! straight from the Pacific islands.

  20. hawaiianhomeboi says:

howzit….well uh i gatta do one research project on hawaiian kakau. an i was wondering if anyone knew, bout in ancient hawaii when the haolie guys started coming, why many chiefs had tattoo’d goats ?…cuz i mean not native animal it was introduced an yuuup…i need help.

  21. kdkjrf says:

What do you guys think of a non-polynesian having a polynesian style tattoo. I am a big fan on how their artistic styles, I would like to have on done but I do not want to offend or insult polyensians.

  22. destroyxeverything says:

Brothers, do you eat rice in your daily basis? Like do you have to have rice in your meals?

  23. spektakk says:

a pe’a is samoan not hawaiian

  24. TheFahmickey says:

The pe’a is a SAMOAN Tatau meant for Samoan men and it takes a week to finish not month a year etc… Not a Hawaiian tatoo either

  25. punakesha says:

first find where in hawaii your family and ancestors come from, what tribe ect know your family geneology and story then go to hawaii find a traditional tattooist like this guy and tell him your story.thats what i had to do only difference is im half maori from new zealand lol
